Hội An, Vietnam Asia Tour Guide: Walter Harrison

Hoi An is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a very unique place. Situated on the east coast on the South China Sea, it offers much in the way of charm and history. Between the 15th and the 19th Centuries, it was a trading port and much of the central part of the town is still well preserved to reflect this. A large number of the central streets are pedestrian traffic only. Most are narrow with houses, shops, cafes and bars as well as art galleries and studios.

During your stay here, apart from having time to explore and discover, you will be taken to the attractive Japanese Bridge, a covered bridge dating back to the Japanese settlers in the 16th and 17th Centuries. On one side is a Buddhist pagoda attached to the bridge.
Also visit a typical Chinese merchant’s home from the past.

After lunch, head for Cam Thanh, a small village outside of Hoi An. Cam Thanh is a fishing village. Here you will have the opportunity to view first hand daily life and how the village operates.

To add to your enjoyment of Hoi An, the accommodation is on the coast where excellent resort hotels are located on perfect sandy beaches.
